There's a guy in the FS section that is selling his catchers right now FYI.

The car doesn't come from the factory with the hardtop hardware. you have to buy it.

Just installed an OEM BB hardtop a couple months back. With the turbo and the 3" Ptuning exhaust, the car is uncomfortably loud. The hardtop reduces drone and wind noise considerably and makes daily driving tolerable.

BB OEM hardtop $2800
Hardware from Hardtop guy for AP1 (includes the defrost button) - $634

Total: $3434 for a used OEM hardtop (highway robbery)

Links:

Two choices you have.

Hardtop Guy - http://hardtopguy.com/store/home.php?cat=92 $514

Izzy's Custom bracket - http://www.izzyscustomcages.com/S200...pBrackets.html - Street $98~ If you remove your soft top $53.

Oem allows for taking the OEM hardtop off easier. Not bolts to unscrew.

I haven't taken off the hardtop since, so I could of gone the Izzy's solution.

And no, you don't have to replace the front stikers if there are no wear. My Hardtopguy hardware came with new front strikers.

Thanks for the help guys. The guy I got the hardtop from for $3000 left the rear catchers on his car and is trading the car in. I and he had no idea I needed these when he dropped the hardtop off and he said when he got back home he would pull his and send them to me. Now though, he stated his didn't seem to unbolt and I would have to get some but they should only be like $35 a piece. They definitely aren't that cheap. I think he already traded his car in and am waiting to hear back. If he can't get the catchers from his car now, should he reimburse me for the $400+ it'll cost me for them?

He is definitely thinking of a different part. How are they not unbolting? lol The catchers are $200+ per side. He should definitely reimburse you, in my opinion.

I abhor convertibles. Everything else about the s, especially for the price I paid and the condition it was in then, was just THAT good. Hard top is an amazing mod IMO.

It would be nice of him to reimburse you for the side catchers because they are a required part of the hardtop assembly. But he's got the upper hand here as you've (presumably) already given him the money and parted ways. Unless he is just a super nice and honest-living person, I don't think your getting any money back from him.

Also, If I was a dealer and some guy just traded in his car to me a few days ago, I wouldn't let him take anything else off the car at this point. Its no longer his property. Again, unless the dealer is just a stand-up guy I don't see that happening either.

Actually, he knows who bought the car from the dealer after he traded it in and the new owner is going to pull the catchers for me. Things turned out ok with it, just have to wait about a week to get them.

damn, got lucky. I bought my hardtop locally from a guy AND got the hardware with it but I have a early hardtop with a vin number badge on it and turned out another friend of mine actually owned the car my hardtop came on originally (crazy 8 years later) and when i looked at his car he still had the catchers on the car. I helped him out and told him to sell them. he got $400 shipped in like 2 hours on s2ki for them. and in return I got the defroster harness off his car still.
