I hate gauges too but oil pressure gauge is a must on any modified engine. We always keep a cheap mechanical oil pressure gauge around for initial start ups.

How long were you driving your car like this for? I know a buddy who's motor was junk after driving with the hoses swapped...

drain the oil and check for anything out of the ordinary before you drive it more.

if the lines were hooked up backwards, listen for some squealing in the near future, and eventually pieces of your bearings in the oil pan.

Yeah I'm worried about this guy considering he actually was brilliant enough to drive it with the oil light on. That's a big

Easy mistake to make, but an expensive one if you ignore the light and don't shut the motor down right away and switch the lines.

bingo. its the EASIEST way to f@#k up a motor. so much so that I triple check my lines when I screw the lines back in. even then pull the coil packs and check for pressure while tapping the start button. there are quite a few ways to check in and out flow. fear and respect that particular part of the rebuild, the other dangerous mistakes won't allow the car to run at all i.e. misplaced teeth on the cams or backwards cams etc. this particular one will just kill the motor.

i drove maybe a mile total if that. i checked it after to see and my oil level was still the same on the dip stick... that's why i got it towed to my buddies shop... i'm not dumb lol i wouldn't have drove it to my tuners shop if the light stayed on because sometimes the light stays on a little longer if you get a oil change... i thought since my motor didn't have oil in it for 3 weeks it would have caused the light to stay on longer. my tuners shop is only about 4 miles away and i was driving around my neighborhood. luckily it is good now and i have that sorted out before any big problems came up. i did drain the oil today at my buddies shop also and it was clear with no metal shavings in it.

dude. The oil light should NEVER be on while the engine is running. What are you talking about "because sometimes the light stays on a little longer if you get a oil change.." That doesnt make any sense AT ALL.

the oil light may flicker during start up, but it should go out immediately if everything is good.
