Default FRM compliant low compression pistons

Hey Guys,

I'm looking to rebuild a block (my first engine build), and was researching into getting some low compression pistons instead of using a 3mm headgasket! I know that there are very limited access to FRM compliant pistons. Someone said Mahle made some, but i could be mistaken. Any info would be appreciated!

From what I recall reading (it's been quite a while, take your grains of salt with this info), it's a coating on the skirt (or maybe all the way around the crown?). If you look at the side of the pison perpendicular to the pin hole, there will be a large black area. Some other OEM's are adding it as a way to reduce internal friction on conventional sleeves, and thus improve fuel efficiency.
