Default fuel pump ground wire

So I'm installing my KW kit and I'm working on the fuel pump. I splice the universal leads to the OEM harness and for whatever reason, the ground wire on the Grams pump is ridiculously thin and it breaks as I'm trying to feed the pump through the housing. Is this a deal breaker? I assume that if the OEM unit has a ground lead then it's pretty important to keep on. Where would I find a replacement harness? TIA.

It's been resolved. I asked KW about it and they said it wasn't a big deal. I'm probably going to go ahead and install the SOS wiring kit for it though. Thanks away.
