My Walbro never whined until I ran my first track day this past Saturday @ Roebling. Got in the car to drive back to the hotel after the last afternoon session and was like, wtf is that freaky high pitched noise?! Eventually realized what it was. Now it seems to only whine when I run the car hard; otherwise it's silent. Weird.

My Walbro whines when the tank is low or its extremely hot outside which leads me to believe the noise is based on the temperature the pump is at.

I had a whinebro in my old Eclipse GST. The fuel pumps in those were directly under the passenger side rear seat. I had the pump rewired to the battery and the back seats out. That thing was LOUD. I also noticed that ambient temps affected the sound as well.

Bumping this up. Installed a Walbro 255 along with a Deustchwerks Fuel Pump wiring kit to ensure it is getting proper power. Went with this over the Aeromotive since I've read that the Aeromotives (and higher flow pumps) may overpower the stock fuel pressure regulator, requiring an aftermarket unit. My power goals are in the mid 300s MAX, so I didn't see the need to go with a beefier pump that required more of an investment.

Well, this Pump is loud as hell, with the whine fluctuating quite a bit even at idle. It primes way louder than stock, which I expected. This pump in particular is much louder than I remember my old Walbro on my supercharged Civic. Gonna give it a week or so to whine down, or I may jump to the Aeromotive unit.

How full was your gas tank at the time? It's usually quieter with more gas in the tank.

Gas was topped off shortly after install. Oddly enough, today it was dead quiet other than the more pronounced primeing noise and slight whine at idle. Much less noticeable, no surging or audible cycling.

Anybody had their pump quiet down with time? I don't have a fuel pressure gauge at the moment, but the car is driving fine.

I had one in my SRT4's. Didn't bother me much but I can see it being a little more annoying in the S with the pump being right behind you. I have the Walbro 400, it's pretty quiet.
