Getting boosted and need help
Ok as some of you know, I'm getting the inline pro kit installed right now. I have been READING AND READING AND READING to learn all I can. Now I just have a few questions.
Let me start with this: I'm not running an EMS or head gasket for the time being, but I'm only running 8psi. I have the black box from the comptech S/C as my piggy back and I'm running a uego gauge to watch my a/f to make sure everything is ok and I plan to get the EMS by the end of the year.
1.) What kind of things do I need to look out for on an everyday basis? (sounds or sights)
2.) What things I should be monitoring? (parts, gauges or signs)
3.) What should I make sure my A/F is at... what range should it stay in.
4.) Am I looking at a potential problem with no EMS?
Please add anything to my list that you think I should watch out for or take notice in.
Thank you all for your time,

-Nick

It would be good to state what are you running if you aren't running the EMS.
Low load, 14:1
Pre-boost, 13:1 a/f's
Boost, 11's & 12's
Your biggest safety factor comes from timing control however I don't think you have the means to control that do you? The e-manage is not very good at it to say the least.

also, what do you mean by safety factor comes from timing control... How can I make it safer... Pretend you're explaining all of this to a 3 year old, that'll help me out.
So I am assuming comptech black box to control the timing and matted to an FMU.
You basically cannot do anything to make it safer. You are at the mercy of the programming in the comptech box and fuel delivery should be slightly adjustable but not significantly. John @ inlinepro had V-AFC to add some fuel to it and do a tiny bit of timing and he ran like that for a while.

Exhaust leak or oil leaks would probably something you need to look out for. Also oil presure and water temps are two very important things to keep an eye on.
2.) What things I should be monitoring? (parts, gauges or signs)
Water temp, Oil presure, A/F, Boost
3.) What should I make sure my A/F is at... what range should it stay in.
Make sure it stays in the green on the gauge...
4.) Am I looking at a potential problem with no EMS?
IMHO i would wait to get the AEM to be safe. Your spending all that money and you wont be able to get the most out of it if you cant tune it properly. just my .02
