Default Going DD for IP Kit

So I finally decided to go with the IP street kit used from a member on the site. I'm going to go look at the turbo next Saturday (July 31st) and make sure all is OK before I hand him the money. Comes with everything (except injectors I think....). Couple questions I have.......

1) My WHP goal is about 350whp-400whp, I am not trying to go over 400whp for a DD. This car has to be reliable, its my only car to get around.

2) The IP kit comes with a cast iron manifold that I keep hearing problems of cracking, etc, with a cast iron mani. Do I swap it out with another manifold? If so how much of a PITA will it be..

3) What else do I need to buy to make the car reliable (i.e; what stage clutch, etc. And what clutch do you recommend)

Any help would be appreciated, this will be my first F/I car.

^ what is your maintenance like? Have you ever had any problems with it, like the bolts on the turbo coming loose or whatever? I keep hearing a bunch of random stories and I am getting worried hearing peoples rears and diffs blow lol

the IP kit is just fine for dd. I have never heard of the manifold cracking. The thing is built pretty solid if you ask me. I have had mine for over 2 years now and I did have issues with the downpipe bolts backing out however I added some stage 8 bolts and a flex pipe and havn't had an issue yet. The turbo has been fine up until lately, I think I may need to have it resealed. Other than that as long as you don't beat the snot out of the car your rearend should be fine as well. I have the 5965b turbo and making 370rwhp and it seems to work great. You will have something to look out for though with a turbo kit but its not too bad I guess.

you can go to stage8.com I believe. I have the Competition Clutch stage 4 sprung 6 puck clutch. It gets a bit to get use to but it handles the power just fine. You have to look at the tq ratings and figure how much tq you will be running. As far as other things to buy, if you want most power out of the system I would do a 3" exhaust with test pipe, you will need an ecu if it doesn't come with one already, gauges ( if you have aem ems I would get the serial gauge) minimum, wideband, and oil pressure, you will need to get it tuned by a good shop as well. I am sure there are other things but thats what I can think of as of right now

Is lock-tite something you can do to prevent the bolts from coming loose? I've used that on pretty much every engine component on my GTO. Cam gear and rocker arms are something that take a lot of abuse and after a few thousand miles everything is still rock solid.

Get stage 8's for the turbo inlet to manifold connection. You dont need them for the down pipe if you have a flex section, but it cant hurt either.
