Default going turbo

Hey all, I just picked up a 05 s2k this week. the winter is coming, so best time to do a mild build. I am not new to Boost, before I had a 00 civic Si boosted on internals.

I want to know is anyone running a turbo setup on stock internals?

how much whp are these F-series motors good for on oem internals?

I looked around, but i see alot of S/C setups, not much info on turbo.

thanks in advance

I think you can do 9 pounds or so without messing with the compression. You're looking at the 350 rwhp-ish range assuming the car is mostly stock with a turbo back 3 inch. If you don't want to mess with compression or internals you could do other stuff like larger throttle body and intake manifold to squeeze some more power out.

But I'm in your shoes; I'm sure a more experience person will chime in.

Inline PRO was running mid 20s for psi and more than 560 whp on stock internals with just a headgasket on their car...

As long as the motor is in good condition, with a headgasket and a good tune you can pull out A LOT of power with a turbo on the stock motor...

I have 22k miles on the car, but i guess I should do a compression/leak down test first.

I personally believe that it doesn't matter whether you have 100 miles on the motor or 100,000 miles on the motor, if you're planning on doing something that adds so much more stress to the motor like FI, a cheap (or self performed) compression and leakdown test goes a long way for just peace of mind even if you know the motor is good.

How much on average is a headgasket swap? I'd love to do the Inline 3mm but isn't labor ridiculously expensive on changing the HG out?

According to the inline car, you should be able to push over 20 psi (TUNED PROPERLY)...

it's not a matter of how much boost you can push.. it's a matter of how much power.....

stock block with 3mm headgasket and reliable (daily driving) = 500rwhp....anything more then that you're pushing your luck....
