Default Grams 265lph pump - rewire necessary?

Hello all over the pond!

Bought a kraftwerks v2 kit with the Grams 265lph pump and 1000cc injectors, factory size pulleys for an 01 model.

I was wondering if it is absolutely necessary for a fuel pump rewire?

I have already got a 10AWG battery feed in the boot from an Audio amplifier I no longer use, so half of the leg work is done.

What do you all reckon?

Regards

Tom

No it's not necessary, but you will probably run lean up top, and you won't make as much power as you should.

Thanks for the replies.

Think I will do it for peace of mind just in case I decide to go further with power.

As for why it's a 265, the gent I bought the kit off, was sent out a kit for an 06-09 when he had an 01 like me, so Tegiwa imports sent out all the correct pulleys and components as opposed to returning the whole kit. That's as I understand it anyway.

i wouldnt worry about it. SOS recommends a rewire for any fuel pumps with a current draw over 13 amps. the grams 265s current draw isnt listed but based on similar fuel pumps i would put it around 10-11.

I would do it just to be on the safe side. Going lean is never fun.

I Would get a larger pump. FB340 or AEM320. But yea with the 265 Grams you can be ok with the factory wiring. anything bigger and id run the SOS wire kit.

I had a lot of fuel pump issues .. Go walbroh 255 right from the start with sos wire kit ..FYI evanstuning told me he don't use the pump with the kit and goes with the 255 all the time .. I had fullblown 340 kept cutting out on me .. Now no more issues...

I'll probably make the harness myself.

Don't see why I should pay over $150 by the time it gets to my door. Robbing barsteward taxmen!
