Who here is running oil temp and water temp guages? My friend is wondering how much increase in temps is too much with this kit, I unfortunately can't help, since i've never recorded this data (I don't run any aftermarket gauges except for boost in my EBC). So what are you guys hitting in terms of oil temp and water temp, warm up and/or after spirited driving?

I would assume with a dumptube, the turbo would creep like crazy.

As for your question Chris, I would love to know this info as well.

Im running oil/water temp and oil pressure gauges. Under normal driving my water temps stay pretty steady between ~185-195. In very hot days like weve been having lately, they will rise to as high as 210 sitting idle in traffic, and Ive also noticed that they read higher at a 70MPH cruise than they do at 55mph cruise, by 5-10 degrees. Spirited driving in normal weather my water temps can get up to 200-205 or so, but I havent tracked the car or been "on it" for very long periods of time. My oil temps are pretty stable, the rise very slowly, and will usually stabalize around ~195 or so. I installed gauges at the same time as turbo kit so I cant comment on before/after differences.

The dump tube open-vents the internal wastegate instead of routing it back into the exhaust, freeing up wastegate flow and reducing the chance of creep.

I think the larger dump tube is a good idea, I will be doing a larger one split type and a larger turbo hooked up to my greddy kit. I hope it all works.

oil temps

low as 130 on a relatively cold day (sub 85 degrees)

spirited driving on a relatively cold day: 150

spirited driving around on a hot day: 175

sitting around in hot traffic 200

add +20 to above numbers because it's off the oil filter, where temp drops by about 20-30 by the time it gets there

btw i have an oil cooler

Stock clutch, but I'm looking into Billman's setup. You really don't need a timer if you just cruise for a minute before you stop. Modern oils aren't as likely to coke. Just don't shut it down immediately after a hard run. Your turbine may still be spinning fast, and have no oil to spin on.

As far as the dump tube, I think the stock piece could be modified easily. I'm going to cut out the partition between the two openings, in the flange, and make the dump tube part of the down pipe. It's basically going to look the same except the gap between the two will be common and enclosed. That's if I don't still suck at welding!
