Finding a tuner is hard to do.

The ap1 base map pulls too much timing and uses too much fuel. Get it tuned.

Stick with the stock cat.

i think i will take it for a tune asap because the vtec dip is really bothering me. but be4 that, i need to get a better exhaust.
for the cat, whats the advantage of using stock cat vs the HFC or test pipe? smog is not really a concern for me.

HFC or stock cat for boost control. You will overboost with a test pipe. I personally ran stock cat sine it was cheaper to do so and I knew it would work.

i m getting it to tune, so is it better to have a test pipe to have the best result? and yes i will put the boost control on tmr.

U will need to port the waste gate if u want to run a testpipe. I did and I ran 3" turbo back custom single to N1 muffler with no boost creep issues . Tune is crucial to optimize power. The dip is not nearly as noticeable after a good tune.

For turbo applictions:

better exhaust flow = more power.

Just decide if u want to put in the work/money to have the WG ported

Lots of ideas i see. I have the same Greddy kit and run a 3" Inline pro exhaust and a Science of Speed test pipe because it comes with two bungs. Yes the boost creep was outrageous when i first put it on but then i went with a Meth injection kit which i can not possibly recommend more for overall safety and tuned her pretty hard. I run 12 pounds of boost with boost controller and put down 300RWHP no problem. My roomate has a C5 Corvette and it doesn't stand a chance.

Leave the stock cat, get tuned. Moving to a test pipe may cause overboosting. One member gained 100 ft lbs of torque around 6000 rpm from the base tune to his custom tune.
That would be me. Get a good tune, and you shall have your reward.

so the torque drop in 6k rpm seems to be normal?!
i've also done some research the single exit exhaust is always perform better than dual. is that ture? i was searching the diameter for the greddy TIC dual but most of them say 50-80mm. and the single greddy TIC is 70mm in pipping. should i just go for 70mm+ single exit for performance and lighter in weight?
seems like most people recommand me a tune. if i m getting it to tune, i'll get the test pipe for sure.
what are some good place to get my 2k tuned in the bay area?!?

thanks.

If you get a test pipe with the greddy kit you are going to have problems with overboosting/boost creep unless you port the wastegate as has been mentioned already. A boost controller isn't going to solve this issue because the wastegate is the problem.

You need to get the car tuned though. Immediately.

i agree after reading many post in here.

now i m running the greddy kit with stock cat and the greddy dual TIC. car runs smooth. the boost gauge reads 6 psi however.

i'll install the boost control soon and take it to a tune for sure within 2 weeks and set it at 9 psi.

i daily drive it a lot, so drivablity is more important to me. i realize that test pipe will be louder. hopefully i can get more torque at the tune.

thanks for the advise. i'll keep update this post with my dyno.
