sounds like a wiring issue to me. i would try to find a wiring diagram for the ecu and find where the immobilizer is tapped. the frog harness for the EMU might have caused an issue while installing (maybe a pinched wire or something?)

start with your wiring - its the only electronic thing that's changed.

Wasn't there something about some spark plugs causing this type issue because they weren't resistor plugs? Any chance you are running non-resistor plugs now?

I don't know? I got one step colder plugs, NGK ????, I can't remember the number but they were plugs that were suggested on the forum. Where did you hear/see about a similar issue where plugs may have been the problem?

Equivalent sparkplugs just the resistor difference and a different coating on the electrode (same copper core on the electrode).

--------------------------------------------------------

For heat range of 8 (one step colder then stock)

NGK 7173 (Non-Resistor)

NGK 2668 (Resistor)

--------------------------------------------------------------

For heat range of 9 (two steps colder then stock)

NGK 4705 (Non-resistor)

NGK 2669 (Resistor)
-------------------------------------------------------

Gap from .030 to .033

Thanks, that could be a culprit. I put a set of colder plugs in, but I will have to take a look and see if they were resistor or non-resistor. I am starting to think that that could be the issue I am having with my aftermarket deck clipping out. It never did it until I installed the turbo and the...new set of plugs. I will keep you posted. Thanks for the thought.

If you are using 7173's or non resistor type plugs thats most likely the culprit. I was running these plugs after searching around the FI forums. These plugs with the ultimate caused the car to crap out on me.

At first my tuner thought that greddy had sent us a JDM plug and play harness cause vtec wasn't engaging. He searched for VTM wire and recheck jumpers over and over.

Vtec wouldn't engage and timing was @ approx 12 degrees.

He checked the plugs and was like "WTF type of plugs are these? never heard of them". (At this point he was quite frustrated..)

Told him they were the non resistor type plugs (7173). Swapped them over to BKR's and VTEC engagement kicked in and timing jumped back to normal.

Might be the same probs your having, iono?

Hope this helps though

my car is cutting out at 7-8k rpms sometimes. my speedo is also cutting out and i get EPS error

this happened 1 day after changing my plugs. i had put +1000 miles on car prior to that with no problems. the plugs i have are:
"NGK V-Power Racing Spark Plugs" Part number R5671A-8 stock number 4554"

im assuming i have incorrect plugs and that may causing issue? thoughts?

If you have a speedo corrector that could be going bad also

Shit I just did some research and thought they were resistor type due to the "R" in the start of the part number, but it doesn't seem so per sparkplugs.com... I'm going to switch them out and see what happens and you should probably do the same.

after changing to correct plugs is there a need to get retuned to make sure everything is within safe conditions?
