Default Greddy turbo shaft play normal?

Just got a used Greddy turbo kit and it has some shaft play but does not touch the housing. Is this normal for their turbos? Thanks.

There should no play in the shaft of a turbo/supercharger. Minimal play might not be a problem for a short while but turbos spin at such high rev's that the shaft play will get worse over time.

Even brand new turbos will have a little shaft play. As long as the wheels aren't coming in contact with the housings, its ok.

Yes I can rock it side to side but not really in or out. It also does not touch the housing...

Anyone with a new kit try to wiggle theirs?

YES side to side shaft play is NORMAL (to a certain extent) in greddy turbos since they use sleeve type bearings. There are small clearances between the bearings and the internals of the turbo that oil needs to pass through. Once oil pressure is in there, there won't be any side to side shaft play, thus you will be ok.

In and out shaft play is BAD, that means you have worn parts and need a rebuild.
