Default Grinding down after cooler?

I'm looking to paint and powder coat portions of my Vortech SC. My question today is about the welds on the after cooler. Mine is the bare metal version and I'm not a huge fan of the grey black and blue colour scheme, especially in my NFR bay. I've already started powder coating other dress up items wrinkle and gloss black so I want my SC to match.

The welds on the after cooler are very well done, but wen painted they stand out and don't really look super smooth. I'm curious if anyone would advise against grinding down and sanding smooth some of the more noticeable parts of the welding.

I took mine down a little bit but I was worried about going too far.

I wonder if using fill to really blend them in is a bad idea? Too much hot, cold, vibration?
