gt3081r
Trying to pick a gt30 series turbo out for my new set up and i have heard the gt3081 mentioned a few times but am unable to find info on this particular turbo configuration. Can anyone provide some knowledge on this turbo, its performance characteristics, specs, and a place to find its compressor map. Thanks
Plz explain your power goals.
I too would go with a 3071 or 3076 depending on your goals. Personally if you're going for more then 400whp then I suggest you go with a 3076. If your shooting for HUGE power then say so.
The 3081 might not be your best bet, its a very specific turbo for specific usages.

Its going to mostly street driven and im looking for aprox 450whp and a nice area under the curve. Im thinking about a 3076r .82 AR twinscroll paired with the pfab EL twinscoll mani because i figured i would get the best of both worlds. I know that using a gt35r with the twinscoll set up will give me the response of a 3076r mated to an EL mani but my hp goals really dont exceed 500 right now and the 35r may be more than what i really need.
This is what i told my installer:
As I see it, I really like the pfab top mount EL mani maybe paired with a gt30r turbo V band. We could go with a gt35r but i figured i would get a liitle more mid range power, and a quicker spool time with the gt 30, plus I could always upgrade later to the 35 if i crave more power. From what ive read we could push the 3076r to alomost 500whp anyway.
I just was wordering what the specifications of the 3081 was and the specific applications 3081 it is used for.

^ correct or a very small change otherwise if it's one we don't know of (not sure), in any case its a mismatch hybrid.
Best bet is a 3076 IMO and that already spools early as hell, if you want to go a step up from there on spool then sure hit the twin scroll. 35R IS more then you need if your looking for not more then 450......probably because of stock internals.
You're on the right track slap a 3076 on there and happy boosting!

oh ok. I know that the 3082 is definnately not what i am looking for, I believe i am correct in saying that it spools like a gt35 and on the top end behaves more like a 3076r. Seems like a very strange combination to have, but it must have some purpose just not what i am looking for. Looks like I am going for the 3076r, probably twinscroll just in case I want to upgrade later to a 35r this way I can maintain a quicker spool.
How much would my spool time decrease by using a twinscrol set up with all other variables being equal. I have heard as much as 500 rpms. Is this accurate? Should I worry about driveablity or stress on the drivetrain if im at full boost so early? Im thinking cant be that much dif than the greddy kit or a SOT kit down low just a lot more go and stress on parts once i get higher into the rpm range.
