depending on your power goals, i would rather get a gt3071r with 0.78 AR as opposed to the GT3082 aka gt3040

So is the wastegate connected with a Y on each side of the twin scroll?
correct, and you can see how it can't be considered a true twinscroll since the exhaust pulses eventually do merge at a single point, which is the at the intersection of the two runners at the external wastegate

however, for practical purposes, and according to those who have tried it, you still reap most of the benefits of this set up..

a pic of full race's twin scroll manifold for the evo.. you can see the two external wastegates

well which would you prefer for a fast response 450-550whp street driven car, also take into account if it was a built motor

gt3071r: .78 a/r t3 diveded
Turbine-Wheel: 60mm w/ 84 trim
Compressor -Wheel: 71mm w/ 56 trim
-Housing: .50 ar
4.0"/2.75" inlet with 2.0" outlet

gt3076r: .78 a/r t3 divided
Turbine -Wheel: 60mm w/ 84 trim
Compressor-Wheel: 76.2mm w/ 56 trim
-Housing: .60 ar
4.0"/3.0" inlet with 2.0" outlet

gt3082r: .78 a/r t3 divided
Turbine-Wheel: 60mm w/ 84 trim
Compressor -Wheel: 82mm w/ 56 trim
-Housing: .70 ar
4.0"inlet with 2.5" outlet

this thread talks about a user's experience from switching to a gt3082 to gt35
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...c=616100&st=25

someone in the thread mentions that the gt3082 has a gt35 turbine and therefore the spool of the gt3082 is the same as a gt35

I was running the 3082 with .63ar hotside. I know some people have said that it's inferior to both gt35 and 3076 but I still made full spool at 4300-4400 rpms and made 400 to the wheels on only 11 psi using a Lovefab mini-me manifold (with lowered 9:1 compression).

For very quick spool consider the GT3071R or GT3076R with the 0.78 a/r divided housing. If you want over 550 whp, consider the GT35R with a divided housing. I'm not a big fan of the GT3082R.

The GT3082R has the GT30R turbine with a GT35R compressor. There's a big mismatch in the size of the compressor and turbine which results in crappy response...
