That's cool, my shop teacher told me story when he was a new mechanic where a car would always come back for a rattle that no one could find. A senior mechanic told him to hit the under side with a hammer (being sarcastic) and he did it and found a jack Daniels bottle in the frame rail, the only way to get it to fit would have been during assembly. My guess the boss was walking by and had nowhere else to hide the bottle.

Where ever it's from it's been in there for a long time. Defiantly not accessible unless things are taken apart, as for origin I was just being funny I have no clue where it's from. Do you know what flavor this is?

I thought the same thing, not a Japanese bottle cap. Maybe a shipper/dock worker lost it while taking his break when the car was on its way over across the Pacific.

Cool find.

Speaking of removing the soft top, that is something on my to-do list very soon. How difficult was it? About how long did it take? Anything noteworthy to look out for?

Thanks,
J

Remove seats
remove center console
remove all panels behind the seat
remove storage compartments between driver and passenger (find a DIY on here kinda sucks)
remove roll hoops
The toughest thing was removing the storage compartment between the passenger and driver, and there some bolts that were hard to get to when physically removing the convertible. since there was fabric covering them.

Took me 2.5 hours with a friend and I, then I put all the plastic components back for a nice clean OEM look minus the heavy top.
