Default Harmonic Vibration

I recently drove my car very hard, just had my car for a week. It has Lovefab kit with 370 at the whp. What I found after things got hot, it vibrates from 2k~3k, I can see it on the mirror and shift knob. My guess is the ball-barring on the turbo is doing it, I let it cool down it goes away. Any ideas ?, btw power is awesome, I am overwhelmed.

lovefab kits have been known for making rattling sounds bc of it hitting the body of the car

Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

but I sure as hell hope that the ball bearings inside the turbo don't cause vibrations strong enough to shake the rear view mirror and the shift knob...

It is my understanding that at the incredibly high speeds that the turbo spins, even small vibrations would be VERY bad...

No its not the Bearings in the Turbo. I just about hit the floor when I read that

I would check all nuts and bolts to make sure they are tight. "Expansion of metals" Especially since you have just installed the kit its always good to go back the first few times to make sure everything is tight. In your case the manifold to head nuts and the bolts holding the turbo to the manifold as I'm assuming your using a Tial 44mm double check the VBand.

Check Clearances on Downpipe also.

I would also check you motor mounts it seems to be a bit of an epidemic for those of us who are boosted.

I can't really think of much else

Good Luck

okay so I'm not that crazy... I mean man those would be some crazy ball bearings to cause all of that lol.

The vibration is from the motor, and transfered to the manifold as well as turbo. Mine is worse when the car is cold, and still there when the car get hot but not as bad. I would try to stay out of that rpm zone as much as i can since the vibration is really bad (You can really feel it when you put your hand on the turbo and give it some gas to bring the rpm up), just hope the manifold will hold up.

From what I have read it seems that the GT1 manifold would benefit greatly from having a solid mount from the Manifold to the Allen bolts on the front of the head. I know many are using the brace kit that Cody supplied but from what I see these braces are bracing the manifold from the compressor side of the turbo. If there was a solid bracket that mounted from collector to the bolts on the head I think most if not all of the rattling would go away. With the exception of those having rattling issues from the DP.

How many people have had problems with the engine mounts coming loose? This is the first I have ever heard of it and I've been boosted for 3 years and 7000 miles.
