They're not a consumable item!
I have come to the realization that as far as the motor goes if it isn't broken don't fix it.
No as far a s the head studs are concerned I see them as a convenience not a necessity.
The first convenience is the ability to use only a torque specification rather torque angle to make the job easier and for most more accurate as they cannot or will not follow the factory torquing procedure.
Second, when setting the head on the block the studs act as guides which allow the head to be located perfectly without marring the surface of the head.
Third, they are reusable, the factory head bold will eventually yield to the point that they become narrowed and unable to provide the proper clamping torque.
I'm surprised no one posted on the strength of the stock block. If you have a good tuner you will have no need for a headgasket. Do a quick search on the forums about the people who are runing high hp numbers on a stock block.

If E85 were readily availible I would not be using a head gasket myself however this is not the case and I had to seek another method of lowering the compression.

Guess it is. Well I am giving this serious consideration but are there any downfalls to doing the InlinePro 3mm headgasket? How long do they last?
