Help CTSC aftercooler pump
Hi guys,
I have an intermittent fault with the aftercooler pump, basically it stopped working.
I noticed when i pressed down on connector and relay it made the pump operate upon lifting my finger off it stopped working, as a temp fix it was tiewrapped but the fix didn't work for long. Now it appears it's a connection problem with connector on the relay or relay itself. So I cleaned both connector and relay pins with contact cleaner, wire brush and sand paper. Intially it made bugger all difference, i wacked the pump and seemed to work but i'm confused as to what's the problem.
I have a few questions...
1. How reliable are the Jabsco pumps?
2. I noticed there was a bluish pasty build up on the relay pins and connector, assume this is arching and normal?
3. Why is there a wire to the airpump relay?, to switch on after CAT warmup???
4. Could it be a bad relay, connection probably inside?
5. What type and rating is the relay?
6. What is a cheap, reliable and easy to get hold of replacement pump? (part no. would be great)
Unsure if its relay and if problem will re-accur, could i not remove the relay i guess it would be better to just replace it.
Cheers

Oops, I didnt read all of your post ^^
I had the same thing happen to me and all it was is the buildup on the connectors.
The pasty build up is normal, its some sorta protectant that honda puts in them I believe.
As for the pump, I dont have the link off hand but some members have found the exact same pump for significantly cheaper than most of ou vendors sell it for.

Thanks guys,
Replaced the relay, which when opened did have rust in it but the problem has appeared again
It seems if i move/push up the whole bracket holding the pump/relay etc and leave it seems to run again - but i cant be sure. I am sure the pump is fine though.
Any ideas, as the wires have been checked and are fine.
I think its a bad ground to do with the bracket but not sure where to look/start?

Is the bracket used as a ground? Tighten it up if so.
Or a leaf in one of the connectors is either extremely corroded or worn out and lost its spring. That gray stuff was corrosion. If the relay is one of the off the shelf 30amp ones and it has a one piece multi-socket, you can try replacing them with female crimp connectors, or get a new socket. Relays should never arc at their pins, only inside on the contacts. You can jump the two switch legs with a piece of wire and see if it fires. Don't confuse them for the power legs though.
