Default Help me build my motor.....

I just got a new (used) short block without a head. I am looking to build her up with the strong guts to take a turbo kit, the way it should be done without using unobtanium. Where do I start, as in if you could build it your way, what would you do, cost is a factor, but I want to do it right. I am looking for ratios and specifics on pistons rods etc. Help a long time member out here, I know about the bolt on stuff, but not too much about innerds.

Well, when people are making well over 500WHP on stock blocks with a thicker HG and V-AFC. There's not a whole lot to build is there?

Depends how long you want it to make it for.

Check out fperra's sig. He has a turbocharged built engine, currently produces 466 rwhp and it's still not fully tuned.

Exactly, spend the least you can. JE pistons, stock or crower rods depending on how much power, your choice on sleeves. Shouldn't be too much over $2k on those main parts. Then some nice head bolts a few other misc. parts. Get an installer or install it yourself and you're done.

Here's a setup with claims of 725WHP and 541 torque at 25lbs of boost on C16 gas. Haven't actually seen the dyno yet.

Benson sleeved block, CP pistons, Cunningham rods, balanced & polished crank, head ported/polished, Supertech springs, valves, and ti retainers...9:1 CR.

Well before everyone starts throwing out ideas for a $3K engine builds on top of a $5K+ turbo kit maybe we should ask what his power goals are?

thanks guys. RZFD, I am looking for a strong, streetable, 400 rwhp. I am not looking into making it the highest hp S2000 out there. Money is a factor only because I am a cheap bastard. I am looking for a strong motor with the best bang for the buck. I want to build it just enough to not blow up any time soon.

sounds like a 2.2 ish boar, with sleeves, a hg, strong studs, and rods is all I need??? Thanks again, like I said, I have been here a long time, but have never built a motor up, so thanks for the info.

What else do I need to know?
