Default Help me decide

Im trying to decide whether or not to go turbo or supercharged. i was suppose to originally get a supercharger and fmic that fell thru. I know this is an on going discussion and yes i have researched all last night and today and i still need help. i want to only boost around 6 to 7 pounds max and i have a vafc2 already. There is only a few places believe it or not that you can tune in North Carolina so that plays a factor as well. I just want enough power so in traffic i dont have to down shift to go around someone. Basically do i go with a smaller turbo that will boost faster for around town driving or a supercharger? Basically with the supercharger i have read it only boost where we already have vtec. If that is the case i want to go turbo but how well will the reliablity be boosting 6 to 7 pounds. I have read that the s2000 motors are already built from the factory.. Sleeved with forged pistons?? Is that correct? I know that a hondata head gasket to lower compression to 9:1 may be needed. What smaller turbine if i went turbo would you recommend?? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

if you're looking for low end umph, go small turbo. you'll proabaly only boost 6-8 lbs, so a head gasket will not be necissary. Revhard makes a decent kit. I've driven one and it picks up at around 3k rpm. not bad. fairly inexpensive kit too.

BTW, your thread title sux bad.

Editing thread title. "need help ASAP" Doesn't do much to describe your question.

Might want to wait for the roots kit to be completed before you make your ASAP decision.

^ I agree, otherwise a standard LoveFab kit @ 7-8psi will improve daily driveability a LOT. I rev my car to 5k only and do not downshift to pass cars.

Holy crap where do I start....

Im trying to decide whether or not to go turbo or supercharged.
If you don't know the answer to this question then you need to do some more research. This question has been beaten to death.

i want to only boost around 6 to 7 pounds max and i have a vafc2 already.
A VAFC is crap. It is so limited that on a FI car it's just a waste of time. Look at any good turbo kit on the market. None come with a VAFC. And the better kits come with full stand alone, there is a reason for this.

There is only a few places believe it or not that you can tune in North Carolina so that plays a factor as well.
Then you really don't want to go turbo. The only kit that I have seen that doesn't "require" tuning is the RevHard and it's a piece of junk. (no offense to those who own it, but it is).

Basically do i go with a smaller turbo that will boost faster for around town driving or a supercharger? Basically with the supercharger i have read it only boost where we already have vtec
It's not the size of the turbo that is important, it's how you use it Seriously, a GT35 will spool quicker than a 20G mitsu but can create more boost. It's all about efficiantcy. A supercharger starts building boost when the engine starts to rev. But it's a linear power not a peak and hold like a turbo.

I have read that the s2000 motors are already built from the factory.. Sleeved with forged pistons??
Yes the pistons are forged and the block is sleeved, but it's not "built" for boost. It's a high compression motor built for NA power. Now with that said, yes it will last longer than a GM motor under boost, but it's not ment for high boost application out of the box. 7-8 psi has been shown to be reliable as long as the it's keep in good running order.

I know that a hondata head gasket to lower compression to 9:1 may be needed
Hondata doesn't make a headgasket to lower the compression of our engine. Cometic and Inline Pro do. The Hondata gasket (intake) is used to keep the intake air cooler.

I just want enough power so in traffic i dont have to down shift to go around someone
Quit being lazy or drive at a higher RPM

My recommendation to you is to go SC. While having a turbo is fun, you are looking for reliable power that doesn't require tuning. This is not an easy assignment for a turbo. Just my opinion, take it as you will.
