Default Hokies Turbo and Turbo Comparisons

So this is not mean as a dig, or anything of the sort, but Hokies inline kit made 380-210=170 above stock. Divide that by 19 and you get about 9 hp for every pound of boost added. This seems pretty darn low?

Bill -> who's comparing kits at the moment.

What gives? I decided to put this under a different topic as to not muddy his.

with a GT35 he would be well over 450 whp at about the same or lower boost levels, its all in the tune/ turbo......

I did notice he was running the SC61 @ 19psi with a 3 inch exhaust, seems low but who knows....

I have a couple of things working against me: 1) the temps - during the tuning it was pretty darn hot. So once temps drop I should be able to pick up a bit more power. 2) It's AP2, so I have less RPM's to work with. 3) The turbo and my unwillingness to notch the frame. 4) The UR exhaust actually tapers down to 2.5" to meet with the stock cat. So I have a bit of a restriction in my system right now.

Further than this, I'm not sure what else it could be.

You have an sc61 and you didn't have to notch the frame??

I made this mistake in my thread too. It's an SC6076R, not a 61 sorry about that!

The smaller the turbo, the less whp per pound of boost.

The ar on the turbine side is small compared to other kits offering turbo such as a, gt30r with a 82 a/r on the turbine side.

that GT30r WITH a 4 bolt discharge will out something like a SC6076 with a smaller back housing.

There are a lot of variables into turbo setups, the best thing to do is figure out what power band you want, how much power, and a budget, and then break it down from there.

His setup will most likely yield a similar power level to mine when the temps cool down a bit. I've lost 30 rwhp with the heat. Call it traction control

Even with a larger GT35R, I don't see the setup pushing more than 420 rwhp in these weather conditions at that operating point (19psi). This turbo selection will spool a bit faster than a GT35R and like mine, will produce more power than the GT35 across a large portion of the engine operating range.

Hokies's car, my car, and pretty much any turbocharged s2000 out there, they are all making their lowest numbers right about now.

i have SC61 in my car. it was also very hot when we did the tuning (Florida) and I made 450whp at 17psi. At 19 I made 478. So you are 100whp less then what you should have made.

He is making the right power at the setup he's on.

A sc61 is a much larger turbo.

Different setup entirely. Completely not applicable.
