Default Honda headgasket vs Cometic

I just recently did a top end rebuild because of a headgasket leaking. I chose to just use a honda headgasket because they wanted like 200 for a Cometic. I did use Arp headstuds instead of head bolts I have heard that they are stronger. I also heard that they are less prone to blow headgaskets after boost. My question is am I safe to run boost with that headgasket? Thanks

The Cometic 2mm and 3mm gaskets are used for a reason: to lower compression.

Sure you can boost with the OEM headgasket but assuming you milled the head your compression would actually have increased so the limit of the boost you can safely run will be even lower than stock. But hey, you got to hang on to $200!

BTW, it's spelt 'grammar'.

why would one you use a 2mm over a 3mm, does it depend on the size of the turbo, say a GT30 use a 2mm and a gt35 use a 3mm thanks for the info

I'm currently running a 2mm cometic with my gt 30 setup but haven't had a chance to tune it yet.

I'd pay the 100-200 bucks now before blowing another motor IMO.

The decision to go 2 or 3mm really depends on what final outcome you want. Ie. how much boost you intend to run. I am running a GT30 with 3mm and boosting to 20psi.
