Hose for air pump needed?
ok, there is a hose that goes from the air pump to the air intake, I believe this is the air pump "OUT" hose. With the Greddy kit they give you a hose extension that you connect to the new intake pipe. Is it necessary to hook into the intake? Or is it ok to just put a filter on it? The reason is, I dont have a barb on my new intake for the inline hotside to attach this hose. I could probably drill and tap a barb fitting, but I cant weld one on.
I have wondered the same thing since the day I started my project months ago. For about 3 months I just left the thing open and zip tied to the side wall and out of the way. Ghetto rigged? Absolutely. But I never had any problems out of it. Some of these other guys that have ran boost longer than I have could probably give you a better answer. With an EMS you are supposed to be able to just remove the whole damn air pump system. When I get my motor back in that is the route I am going
. What are you using for tune software?
Unfortunately I am using the Greddy E-manage Ultimate. I plan on upgrading to EMS next year. I honestly think it will be ok, as it is just an exhaust of the secondary air pump. And because of emissions the manufacturer recirculated it back into the intake system to avoid venting into the atmosphere. I am also looking into eliminating my PVC valve and just venting it and the front vent port to the atmosphere via a catch can.
Why even filter the air pump hose? Just plug your intake and leave the air pump hose open and tuck away somewhere. Its blowing out air from an external pump so why filter it? Am I missing something? The intake side you can just plug like I mentioned, its only emissions related for cold start up and will have no adverse effects on running, if anything plugging the intake port will improve throttle response vs having it open to an external device such as the pump.
