so why do you need to upgrade your springs?

 

I have seen you post this before. Is this based on your experiences or hear-say?? I have never experienced any problems with 2 steps on stock motors. I don't sit there and hold the thing off 2step forever, just a few seconds before the launch

 

Inlinepro has confirmed that the stock springs fail using 2 step after repeated use.

i think it has to do with the ign cut setting in this tab of the parameters--start, ign cut rpm and shift up values. Pretty sure, but i'm not 100%, i've never used it before:

 

Does anyone here use the option above? Id like to hear feedback as im thinking about trying it out on the track.

my friends 03 E46 M3 SMG has built in 2 step in M Mode.

 

The two step not only limits rpm's but it also adjusts timing. The emu allows 20deg either way. The idea is to get the ignition closer to the exhaust valve opening to get more heat out to the turbo. I haven't gotten IGN ADJ to work, but I think my units are off and for some reason that breaks a lot of things. You probably want a negative number in the ignition field, launch rpm in the start field, and a low number in the v.s. pulse field. All you have to do is apply full throttle at a dead stop and it will activate. Once the emu sees the number of speed sensor pulses you set it releases the cut and timing back to normal. leaving the IGN ADJ field 0 and unchecking it will make it act like basic launch control. I usually run 90% throttle as my setting.
