Default How many with AEM EMS for DD.

Since getting an AEM EMS, starting the car takes a little longer than before. Some people say that's to be expected with an AEM EMS, some say it's because of cold start parameters.

Regardless, I'm thinking of going back to stock ECU to have the "immobilizer" feature as a safety and the OBD diagnostics in play for a daily driven car.

Anyone have any thoughts?

mine is fine, for the most part, for most mornings. only have problems when it's colder (for CA standards). I heard the newer software has better start-up. Also, i let my cluster zero out before pushing the push start which helped me.

I have the ems and my car starts and drives just about normal. The only difference from stock ecu and it is the extra second for the car to turn over. I agree when it gets really cold, meaning south dakota, cold it takes a bit longer to crank up, however I usually don't drive my car when it is below 30. It is all in the tune. Find a good tuner and your car should feel like stock.

go with a Kpro... starts like stock and OBD2 CELs are all still active.

No problems here...once in a while it will be annoying and take a second to start, but thats rare and only when its super cold.

I understand all of your saying that it is almost like stock except the longer cranking time but he said he wanted OBD2 CEL abilities as well and no matter how stock like the AEM can get it doesn't have OBD...

exactly, it's all in the tune and setting up everything, the base startup tune is far from perfect when it comes to startup.

camuman posted a cold start video with his car with AEM and it was just like stock. took us some tweaking to do it, but it's definitely capable when set up right. I don't know where the video is but I'll have him find it and post it.

i have had the AEM EMS for a while now. It had fuel feedback which the KPRO doesnt have and has worked with almost no issues (one injector driver burnt out) I wish the KPRO was out when i was looking at EMS's. I don't know if its worth the investment of a new tune/extra money to get the OBD-II functionality when i can just get a 'sticker'.
