MY EMS started my S2000 like stock in the first 5 minutes of Casey programming it. However, my OLD EMS burnt out like some of them are known for doing, but AEM took full responsibility even OUT OF WARRANTY and sent me a brand new one free of charge. They took care of me with ease.

The problem with hondata lies in their customer support for defective items.

They will FORCE you to have your authorized dealer call them and diagnose it over the phone WITH THE CAR THERE, and only after you spend a couple hours of your time and money with them, will they give you a return number and it STILL might not be covered under their warranty.

I LOVE Hondata to death and they are good people, but their policies for defective items are not the easiest.

Both are good tuning solutions and Hondata does have the OBD capability and i ALSO beleive it can still read water temp(correct me if i'm mistaken), but for ME and my TUNER AEM was the easiest solution.

Starts and runs like factory for me as well, except the 1 sec extra cranking time. The reason for this is the AEM does a sensor check which takes 2 full engine revolutions to complete. Syncing up the Crank and Cam sensors.

exactly, it's all in the tune and setting up everything, the base startup tune is far from perfect when it comes to startup.

camuman posted a cold start video with his car with AEM and it was just like stock. took us some tweaking to do it, but it's definitely capable when set up right. I don't know where the video is but I'll have him find it and post it.
si, with tweaking, it will start just fine

I have the EMS, it starts fine, I just wait a couple of seconds then start it.

I also had some weird injector driver fail. I figured out it was the EMS. I went to Church and Shawn confirmed it was the EMS (No Charge) and then I ran it down to AEM and they fixed it (No Charge) and even shipped it back to me the next day (No Charge).

Edit: I forgot to mention that the EMS was way out of warranty.

The Service from Shawn Church & AEM was great. That's the sort of things that keep loyal customers.

I agree with all above. It's not bad at all. Turn the key, wait 2 seconds for the electronics to all come on line, push the start button. It should almost instantly start.

You will want to have a good battery. The PC680 is only good for a couple of starts before it's toast. In cold weather, you may only get one start or less before it gives up. It can and will leave you stranded if you're counting on it for a DD. It probably works fine for racing, but the demands for daily driving are greater.

90% of the ECUs returned to us without diagnosis have no fault found, or a fault that could have been corrected by a calibration or program change by the user or dealer.

There is no charge for this over the phone test procedure and diagnosis, which is more than reasonable considering the vast majority of the problems called in have nothing to do with warranty or even our products.

In fact the opposite is true. We are trying to save customers downtime, freight costs and the charges that they will incur if they send in a fully functional ECU.
