How much hp per lb of boost?

Default How much hp per lb of boost?

just wondering about how much hp gain each psi is equal to.

just trying to figure out how much i wanna boost up to achieve the numbers i want..

thanks for any help given

It should be around 14- 15 hp per lb boost give or take a little. Take your baseline and subtract it from your known hp at low boost then divide that hp by that lower boost.

With headwork it may be higher and with a thick head gasket it may be a lower number.

and whats the average ctsc on stock psi dyno at? just for an estimate

HP/psi numbers are influenced mainly by the dynamics of the head. All stock S2000 motors should have almost identical HP/psi numbers. The reason a good turbo system has a higher number is because there is much less parasitic drag on the motor. A Comptech supercharged engine and a Lovefab turbocharged engine will both produce the same HP/psi numbers, but the Comptech will eat a certain amount of power in spinning the charger.

Interesting point but so off topic.

That drag is about 70 hp at max impeller speed with the Vortech V2 SQ SC. I have not seen numbers published for the Comptech.

Not off-topic at all. Just clarifying what HP/psi really means. Someone is bound to ask why a turbo produces a higher figure...and there is a reason for it.
