Default How often to change oil

How often should the oil be changed in supercharged set up? Also, is there an easier way other than removing the oil line drain plug? I'm new to the forced induction set up, do I apologize if this is a dumb question. Thanks.

Personally I change the oil in my turbo car every 1000-1500 miles. I run rotella 15w40 diesel oil. I don't drive the car that often so for me thats maybe 3 times a year. For normal use I'd say every 3000 or so. If your beating on it maybe more often, if not maybe less. There's really no good answer to this. There's no such thing as oil that is too clean, so use your own judgement. Check it often, when it starts turning dark black or smells of fuel, its time for a change. As a general rule, 3k miles is a good standard. Others may disagree obviously. As far as the drain line, just have the pan tapped so you don't have to remove the line every time.

Does the engine need more oil since now there's a supercharger on? Or is it still the same 5 quarts?

You will need a little more but not much. Start with 5.2qt and check dip stick.

I change my oil every 2~3000 miles. Since im on e85 & turboed I need to check the oil constintly because the alcohol in the e85 thins out the oil. So it all depends.

Is it difficult to disconnect the oil return line to do oil changes? I I really don't want to tap into the pan

Don't forget the size of the oil filter will also make a difference in how much oil the car takes. Some use a filter that is smaller than the stock oil filter and some like me use a filter that is more than twice the size as the stock oil filter for the S, so I just drain the oil and put in 5 qt's start the car for a min. or two and then check the dip stick(both sides) and add oil to bring it up to full. Its easy to add oil and not so fun to take some out if you put to much in.

Get an oil analysis done. I posted mine on here before. SOS oil fed running Amsoil 10w-40 and they said it looked good after changing the oil at 3k or so, and that I should try to extend to 4.5k. Do a search. I'll get another analysis next time around after going 4.5k or so.

I don't think so.

OEM filter is just fine.
