I bypassed the intercooler with a straight pipe, and monitored IATs. I found that the intake temps went up 10 degrees while the car sat in idling in grid between runs. However, there was no noticeable gain in temp during a run.

In grid, the temps would slowly rise to 150-155. On course, the temps were 5-10 over ambient.

I should mention that I am also running water injection and 110 leaded race fuel.

Ahhh. Water injection ftw

While I am sure that the supercharger does pick up some heat from the header, The heat shield that I made to cover the header works wonders. I made it out of sheet aluminum and gold reflective sheets. With the car running, I am still able to place my hand on the backside of the shield.

Camuman,

Did you try any pre-supercharger water or methanol? I have been contemplating splitting my water up. 25% pre-supercharger & 75% post supercharger.

Yes. Only thing I 100% accomplished was destroying the coating on the rotors.when I had the blower ported they confirmed it and stripped it off. If you just spray water I think you will be ok. I sprayed both.

I was wondering if you were going to do a build thread. It's been killing me having to keep quiet.

I want to see someone do a screw charger kit that mounts in place of the intake manifold like this e36 kit and routes the intake plumbing to the back. It would avoid so much more heat and would be so much cleaner in the bay.

It's easy to see why it works on v engines, but it can also be made for inlines too.
