Default I think there's something wrong with my car...

Hey guys,

I purchased a 04 SC S2k with 28K miles. It just has a comptech SC w/ AC and stock everything. Btw, I drive the car conservatively with no clutch drops.

The car runs fine in low rpms (1-5 rpms) but a couple times this week I put it into vtech in 1st and 2nd and though the car shifted into gear, it felt like "something" was slipping as the car veered a bit to the right without any increase in rpm , then the car gradually kick into gear and the car took off. I purposely did it again in second and same thing... I hope I've explained it clearly.

Well, do I need to replace the clutch? differential? I have no clue.

I'm planning to change the engine, transmission, differential oil and spark plugs. Can this be due to the spark plugs and the car misfiring at high rpms? (as read on the SC spark plug thread...)

Also, I'm not too sure if there's a connection but at the end of each drive, I think I smell motor oil coming from the engine.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Well....if you want to boost then i suggest you get a new clutch.it's not urgent..you'll still be able to drive your car but just won't be able to boost correctly.(atleast for a little while before it's starts getting really bad)

I have the ACT.most members here seem to like it.

I just went back and saw the post of the original owner and he doesn't mention getting a new clutch in his post when he was selling the car.

if the clutched slipped the RPMs should have shot up WITHOUT you going anywhere. In his post it says the RPM's did not raise, and the car just veered right?

If you do get a clutch, becareful with the "heavy duty" pressure plates.

You say be careful with "heavy duty" pressure plate so what would a good lb. pressure plate be?

get a good clutch that has a good CLUTCH DISC design, and you won't have to increase too much pressure on the pressure plate.

competition clutch is probably the best on the market now.

if the clutch was slipping engine rpm's should be shooting up and according to the post they are not. Sounds like it may be a driveability issue.
