I'm thinking of nitrous
I've done the searches and read what everyone has to say about nitrous, but a lot of the threads are from 2002-2004. Based on my current setup, I'm thinking about a 50 or 75 wet shot, probably zex. I have a VAFC2 and the 00 ECU, so stock I run quite rich. I'm thinking that leaning with the vafc is a bad idea if I'm going with nitrous, so the stock ECU would actually be a good thing here. Will my setup be able to provide enough fuel for a 75 shot or should I stick with the 50 and be safe?
I plan on getting a bottle warmer and window switch. I know what a window switch does, but I'm confused as to what I can do WITH it. If I set the nitrous to run only from 3500-8500 RPMS, will it always be on? I want my setup to only run when I push a button, but only be able to work in that 3500-8500 range.
I do not want to upgrade my injectors, fuel system, or get rid of my test pipe (what would my exhaust look like spraying with a test pipe btw?). Any help from other sprayers would be great. Thanks!
Oh... and please keep your "you'll blow your motor" comments to yourself, as those people obviously use speculation and have no real knowledge of the subject.

You'll blow your mot.... oh, didn't see the last bit.
Are you talking wet or dry? Personally I think you're crazy running nitrous with out proper engine management regardless. EMSs are expensive but so are engines.
BTW, if you ask for advice but also limit the sort of responses you're not going to get very good feedback. You'll get a bunch of highschool ricers with degrees from the F&F Uni saying "Juz do it!" and people who know what they are talking about just shaking their heads and waiting for the "I blu my mota and HOnda won't pay for it" thread.
Oh, and before you tell me I'm an a-hole, I'm well aware of the fact.

Aus, good answer...Try visiting your local tuner and ask if he is experienced with our engine and his advive on "spraying". I thought of of using NOS, and was completely talked out of it, and if you do it right, it could cost over 1G. Think of long term goals...
I believe sex, I mean, ZEX is best, but don't quote me. Wait for the pro's to answer.
Good luck.

I said that last bit because in all of the nitrous threads there'd be some jerk saying "lol you'll blow your motor. I don't personally have experience but this guy I know..."
I stated I want either a 50 or 75 wet kit. I'm well aware that I'll spend around a grand... as I said I've done my research. Basically I want to know if a wet 75 is pushing it. Keep in mind all of my mods... and my rich running ECU. All of the threads in the past were from so long ago, before everyone was running a test pipe, before there were 70mm exhausts, etc. These lean out your motor, however I do have a vafc2 and could richen the mixture with that some.
As stated, I need advice as to whether a 75 shot would be ok, or if I should stick with the 50. As you can see with my 4.77... I like to go hardcore so I'd really like the 75 but I want to stay safe.
Thanks for the input

i would only use NX. a basic kit with the genx and genx2 upgrades (well over $1000 for everything). and with a wet kit, wether or not you have enough fuel has nothing to do with your engine management.
get a wet kit, it taps into your fuel rail, jet it for a 75 shot, when it activates (btw, all NX kits are activated with a switch, and spray through a wide open throttle switch you install on the throttle body, so your window switch from 3000-8500 will only spray nitrous is you're at WOT and your activation switch is flipped on).. .anyway, when it activates the jets mix in the nitrous and additional fuel for you.
just as a safety measure i would get some colder plugs. one degree colder should be fine. and judging by how much the stock fuel pump appears to be able to flow, you should be fine with the stock pump.
do yourself a favor tho, don't skimp on anything, make sure you have a 3000psi cap, a dump tube, a fuel cutoff line, automatic bottle heater, etc...

The ZEX kit comes with a Nitrous Management Unit that uses the throttle position sensor to activate the nitrous at WOT. It works very nicely, but you should still use a window switch, fuel pressures switch, etc.. to ensure you are only spraying when you are in the proper RPM range and with adequate fuel pressure.
I ran a ZEX wet kit (75 shot) for a while, more over a test to see if I needed/wanted more hp before dropping big cash on FI (which I found out not only did I want more HP - I actually need it
).
With the recommended fuel and nitrous jets for the ZEX 75 shot I was running very rich when dynoed with a wide band (10 range). I dropped the fuel jet down to the 65 shot kit and that put me in the 12 range - plus it made a ton more HP.
I also used an NX nitrous solenoid in series with the ZEX nitrous solenoid (triggered by window switch, fuel pressure switch and arming switch) just to minimize the chance of leak by if the ZEX solenoid failed.
By the time you get the kit, bottle opener, pressure gauge, window switch, fuel pressure switch, and a back-up solenoid you will easily be in for $1k.
Definately dyno and get a handle on your AF mixture.

Thanks a ton for those last two posts, very informative! The money is not an issue, I'm well aware that I'll be spending around a grand or so... which is not a problem. I just don't want to spend 8 grand on a turbo setup that will net me similar results and have to use it all the time when I can just use the spray when I want
So, I've now heard NX is a great kit from several people. I will be considering NX and ZEX now in my research. I may actually give both companies a call and see what they think. The 75 seems very doable now, thanks a ton
