Default Injectors - Going from a 1012 to a 1052

My 1012 has died so I got ahold of a 1052.

It needed a firmware upgrade to 1.19 and then I downloaded the configuration file to it.

Fired up straight away but ran rough. Cylinder 3 not firing. Took me a while but I remembered that the 1012 used injectors 1,2,4 and 5 for some odd reason.

Changed the Injector options to 1,2,3,4 and it runs smoothly.

Whilst there I noticed some weird settings however.

The settings I had used Knock Sensor 2 but the AEM base config uses Knock 1.

The last part of the configuration has an option of Base, Primary and Secondary. Mine was set to Primary whereas the AEM config is set to Base. Not even sure what this parameter is.

Also, I can't work out how I opened it but I have a window opened with the first setting Injector Phase. Mine was set to 10.75 teeth. The AEM Cal to 11.

The other settings are:

Inject tooth #1 12
Inject tooth #2 0
Inject tooth #4 18
Inject tooth #5 6

AEM's base config is:
Inject tooth #1 12
Inject tooth #2 6
Inject tooth #3 18
Inject tooth #4 0

I guess these figures are for phasing the injector firing timing and should follow a 1,3,4,2 sequence. With an off set of 11 the AEM base config seems to be correct.

Love to get some discussion going on which settings are correct.

The 1012 and 1052 are a bit different. Try to use the settings from the AEM base map. When I've converted between 1012 and 1052, I've always tried to keep anything hardware related the same as whatever the AEM basemap for that particular EMS model used.

Where were you when I needed you?

Seriously, can you mention any other differences off hand. I'm too far down the track to start again with a base map.

How did you upgrade to v1.19? I cannot find out how to upgrade it. I have started a new thread for my AEM base map issue. I cannot send the new calibration over due to some sort of problem.

Thanks

There is a 'Update Firmware' option in one of the menus (ECU I think). Just download the Firmware Update then upload it to the ECU.

Note: you will also have to convert your map and there will be problems.

^ There is no v1.19 option in dialog box once I click on that menu, just v1.11 and older versions... Do I need to upgrade to v1.11, then will the option for v1.19 show up in the dialog box once I initiate another Firmware Update from the ECU menu?

What sort of issues have you run into in converting your map? I think mine should by OK, as I believe it was tuned in v1.19. If not, I will contact HP Performance to get them to do the conversion... I am NOT going to be responsible to screwing this up.

I think 1.21 is 1.19 with a upgrade for a particular ECU.

We had all sorts of problems. The tooth number on the cam timing sensor was one. Was set to 5 and needed to be 3. Can't remember any others.

Awesome. If I can upgrade to v1.21, I will do it. Just waiting for HP Performance to confirm that this is the case.... I REALLY do not want to screw anything up inside the EMS, so better safe than sorry. Per AEM's website, the v1.21 is only for the 30-1220 EMS, not the 30-1052u, and should not be used otherwise... This was not an option either in the dialog box, but was something I saw on AEM's website. Do I need to first upgrade to v1.11 before v1.19 will show up as an update option? Its not even an option now...

Not to mention I am not going anywhere until I get the oil supply fittings for the T-fitting at the oil pressure sensor, so I am not in a dire hurry.

Good luck with sorting your issues out. I will follow this topic in case I have similar issues.

Thanks again!
