Injectors maxed out
Hi,
I'm on pumpgas, 9.5:1 compr ratio, 22psi, pte 6266
My Id1000's are @ 96% duty cycle now. I use a aeromotive 340 in tank fuel pump, rest is all stock (fuel lines, rail, FPR)
I'm thinking about a surge tank with double fuel pump setup for later when I want to boost a little bit more.... but for now, would you recommand updating the FPR or fuel rail or something? Or is this just a waste of money?

i would go with id1300 injectors and get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and bump base pressure up to 55-60psi and go with a walbro 450 fuel pump. Thats what i run and that setup is good for about 600whp on e85. I use to have the id1700 and the id2200 injectors and they suck. Drivability on 91 octane was severely compromised and i wont not run them again.

Switching the aeromotive 340 for a walbro 450 is an upgrade? I thought the aeromotive was (one of) the best in tank fuel pumps on the market.

If your looking for budget worthy. (Bang for your buck) I would recommend the sos re wire and then an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Let that aero fuel pump work! I'm sure u paid a good penny for it.

I tend to agree with Rain8er here. But If more headroom brings you peace of mind, just throw an AEM adjustable fpr on the stock rail ($125) and bring up the pressure so you can lower duty some. ID1000 run well over a wide pressure range. Problem with this though, is your going to have to remap your fuel tables because they are all going change with the added pressure which means retune cost as well if your not tuning your own car. It may make more sense just to leave things as they are until you actually increase boost, and at that point figure out if your going to need to address bigger injectors and fuel pumps to support the power increase.

I don't have any experience with adjustable FPR's. But seems to me that you can use them to rise the rail pressure by not letting gas flow back into the tank when the injectors don't need it.
Duty cycle is only very high at high rpm. Is an adjustable FPR still useful for raising the pressure at high rpm?
Btw, I've never heard of the sos re wire kit. Does this kit simply give the fuel pump some extra amps?
As you can see this is my first turbo build, and still learning.
remapping is not an issue, since I'm not done mapping yet anyway

No it up's the volts getting to your fuel pump via larger wiring harness, so there is less volt drop from the battery before it gets to the fuel pump. I only saw 0.2v increase to the pump with the sos rewire and my FB340. Its something. And for some it may make the difference if they are already running high pressure and bigger pumps. In your case, id just get the fpr if anything for now, or wait until you up the boost and do it all at once as mentioned. Certainly will have more impact of fuel enrichment for you and a lot quicker/easier install.
