Default Injectors needed for 600hp on 95 Octane

Hi all

I'm at the stage where I need to upgrade my ID1000s to support more boost.

Currently I have a fully built engine with a GTX3576R bolted on to a Sheepey with a 340 in tank 340 making 485 @ 17psi.

I want to make 600+ on 98 octane fuel (high octane pump fuel in the UK, E85 isn't easily available).

For the next tune I have installed 2x Bosch 044s into an integrated engineering fuel surge tank (fed from the in tank 340) on to a -6 tapped dual feed OEM fuel rail.

Now I need to think about injectors.. I think I will max out the ID1000s looking for 600 so looking for some 1300cc injectors..

Does anyone have any real life feedback with the DeatschWerks 1300 injectors? The spray pattern looks good on paper and they are considerably cheaper that the ID13000 but there is normally a reason for this..

Any feedback would be appreciated. Or any other injector type to recommend other than the $900 ID1300s!

Topic tile should read 98 Octane.

Unless you are planning for more down the line(Dual Bosch 044's seems to insinuate it) the 1000's should work. You could just bump the fuel pressure up to 50 for a little extra room(7% more fuel). Normally I suggest getting a larger injector, but you already have the 1000's, and I think they would likely work without bumping up the pressure anyway. I've made 600+whp on 1000's but every dyno is different so I'm sure others could have maxxed out before that.

Thanks for the response.

I'm running the dual because I got them cheap off a friend and I like the idea of have a secondary "redundancy" pump. I won't have them both running all the time, probably have a switch so the 2nd is activated under boost. Seen guys have reached the limits of a single 044 @ close to 600 before so also figure since I have 2 might as well have that extra capacity. Luckily they will be nearly all submerged so shouldn't be as noisy as in line.

My tuner thinks I will need to upgrade to larger than the ID1000s to comfortably make 600hp let alone 600whp However we haven't discussed raising base fuel pressure.. Is there any cons to doing this?

I have no problem with this but another $900 is a bit much. I guess I'm looking for someone to report that they have had good experiences with the deatschwerks injectors 1300cc injectors as they are more attractively priced. Maybe not worth risking my built engine on tho..

The benefit in running an ID injector is they have a super wide operating range of pressures, top of the mark as far as injectors go. 60-70psi as a base pressure without compromising spray pattern or reliability is within the scope. You will probably yield more delivery at that point on the 1000cc then with the 1300 deatshwerks in their operating range. You are on the cusp though, of needing an injector size that will start to compromise a good low demand spray pattern to deliver the cc you need at full tilt. As someone who runs ID1000 and in various stages of NA to boost on this motor, I can attest they are a fantastic injector, delivering about the broadest scope of fuel support from low to high you will find. So if you’re pushing past these injectors, you are stepping into a whole new arena of build for the car that you may or may not be considering. Anyway, if the ID turn out to not cut it for you after cranking up the fuel pressure, then I would probably skip a larger injector and go for a secondary set of ID 1000 to kick in when needed. Just run the appropriate 8 injector rail and manifold spacer, or do a custom injector boss on the factory manifold. This way you aren’t going to be compromising your engine by large cc/poor low demand atomization and potentially fuel washing.

If you have Dual 044 pumps, you don't need 1300cc injectors for 600whp on gas.

For your setup there really are no cons. The cons with raising the base pressure are typically that you end up running higher than necessary rail pressures, and depending on how high you go the injector might not like it. Your pumps can handle a LOT of pressure, and so can the injectors. Realistically you will not need to run much boost for 600whp, and will end up somewhere around 70-75psi rail pressure, this is not a lot. At 50psi rail pressure, you will likely be ~90% duty cycle at 700hp = ~600whp
