The head gasket is worth it.I am actaully looking to go up to 16 psi soon but still debating though.some ppl dont recommend to run anything past 14 psi on pump gas but I am still doing home work on it.We'll see what happens

Of course it will blow it away, you are running 18-19psi!

If it worked so well for you without any problems why would you want to sell it to end up spending tons of money to rebuild your motor?

My post in another thread in this section:

Why does everyone insist on getting a 3mm headgasket only? You lose power the more compression you drop as well as response, off boost torque, etc...not to mention getting a different thickness from cometic is about $200 less than the 3mm. Most people will never have to drop it to 9:1 for the power they're looking for with a standalone. A CR of 10:1 is more than enough for the power 91-93 octane will be able to allow and still be drivable in this car. Going with lets say a 2mm gasket from cometic, lovefab kit, great tunning, you can make 400whp on a dynojet no problem. With 400whp on this car, it just spins gears 1-4 anyways.
There's really nothing wrong with the UR kit. JDMKID was running a lot more stuff than what's included with the standard inlinepro kit. I can assure you you dont get 1000cc injectors or an AEM EMS with the inlinepro kit...which are essential to make the power he did. Kinda like apples to oranges.

I'm going to be running a 2mm from Cometic in just a few weeks. It was $100 and there's not need to adjust your cam timing. We'll see how well it works. It's actually installed right now (thanks Tobi). I'm hoping that with 10:1 I'll still spool VERY quickly and will be able to run 12-15 psi daily on pump gas.

Tim
cool tim keep us posted on your progress. I'm debating between the 3mm and the 2mm. They are both made by cometic so the quality is good.

i would say its worth it. the compression is the only thing holding this engine back from being turbo friendly. after that the rods will be the next weak link as far as the engine goes.

One thing you guys dont realize is this is an open deck motor. For those who dont understand let me show you:

As you can see on this stock short block there is an opening around the cylinder walls. This is an open deck setup. This was designed for N/A motors, not FI. If you were to tear apart an FI motor from the factory you will see that it is a closed deck setup. The main reason for a closed deck setup is to prevent your pistons from "shaking" so-to-say while under boost. When you start running alot of boost on the open deck setups, regardless if its running fine right now, your potentially going to cause damage in the long term.

Of course everyone has there own opinions, but I figured this might be relavent to this dicussion.
