Inline kit.. not running up to redline
My car has been at the tuner for some time, the car will not run up to redline. It use to with the emanage, put on an AEM then it would not. Sent the AEM away got it checked out. Now the car runs up to redline under spring pressure but does not as boost and HP increases. Put the greddy ultimate back on and it no longer runs up to redline. So I guess finally I can eliminate the EMS being the issue. The tuner seems to think it is an ignition problem or a fuel problem. I am starting to think this as well an may be why my car was running wierd which is why I switched over to the AEM. We have re gapped and changed the plugs and changed coils out with another car. I am thinking about replacing the fuel pump, do you guys have any other ideas. Can the fuel pump just shut down down hard like that. Car seem to just die around 7-8k.
I have an AP1 cast inline kit 6165 turbo, greddy and aem 3mm hg 3" inline single

id bet my left nut you are experiencing spark blow out. pull the plugs Regap them to around .18 and then take it out for a rip on the higher boost level. Are you running ap1 coils? if so id change them out for ap2 so you can increase the spark plug gap.
What is the lowest you have gapped the plugs?

Good point, is dropping the plug gap down just a quick fix? I don't think I can run it that way all the time.
SO what are the best options for a permanent fix, just run RSX coils?

I PM'd you my cell
If your tuner can't figure out that the spark is being blown out, then i wouldn't really be comfortable with him tuning my car.
And I had misfire issues with my ap1 coils for some reason, car was hitting a brick wall on the dyno at 7700rpms. swapped them for some K series coils, problem went away without changing the plug gap.

The vtec is set between 6500-6800 I would need to ask. It is going into vtec not a problem there. The car seems to just shut down. From many of the posts it appears to be spark plug blow out. Being that he changed the plugs and re-gapped them leads me to believe he was under the impression the spark was blowing out or some type of ignition problem. I will try and get more details on Monday then post back.
What is the difference between K series coils and RSX?
I know TRBOKEV and DSDDCD did some kind of upgrade what did you guys do?
Any other options, anything else could be wrong or should I check besides the coils?
Anything fuel related that I should check or consider.
Scott I will give you a call when I have more details.

the reducing plug gap is a quick fix to tell whats causing the problem. From there you need to come up with a solution which would be to try ap2 or rsx coils. You can easily run a plug gap of around .22-.25 without any issues at all. Its something very easy to do to see whats wrong. Let us know how it goes.
