Just because I thought this smiley was funnny.

To the OP, does the car have the built in AEM wideband with the EMS? Or was it tuned via a external wideband?

No it was tuned with the AEM EMS, no external wideband yet.

By the way this car belongs to my son. I asked a friend to post for me since I wasnt a member but I figured I would be better equipped to answer any questions.

I talked to him last night, He said the tuner used a wideband to tune the car but he doesnt not have one installed. The tuner said one wasnt needed since he tuned it properly from what he said. Also something weird he told me yesterday was that his Vtec kicks in at 7k. The tuner was saying that the vtec kicking lower was not making as much power. Does this make sense?

Also, he wanted to know where the main relay was to check. Is there a way to test if this is working propery or would it be cheaper just to replace the relay?

With a log manifold, vtec is usually increased so yes thats normal (though 7k seems a little high).

Honestly, sounds like your tuner isn't the best in the world. With a proper tune, you shouldn't have any of those issues.

Car was tuned by TD autowerks. pls pm'ed me about the issue and honestly to me it sounds like a tune issue as well. But he says it was done by a reputable tuner and this is not the first AEM'ed s2000 he has done.

The tuner is a guy called Lance and he's one of the best AEM tuners around. My son told me this morning the problem is getting worse. It's shutting off more now but will start right up but as soon as he takes off bam! off again. He barely made it to work.

Is there a way he can test to see if the aem is not working properly. He still has his stock ecu.

stock ecu won't run larger injectors, it will think they are the stock size and dump fuel.

i'm leaning towards ignition switch killing power to the ecu, but that's odd that it will start right back up with no problems.

What is the condition of the ground on the back of the head? that's the main ground for the ECU, if that is messed up, the ECU will not work properly.

Couple of updates.....
My son swapped out the AEM for the stock ECU yesterday and although the car obviously doesn't run the same it runs without shutting off. He says that since now his water temp gauge works he sees that the car looks like it's overheating. He couldn't see this before since he lost his temp gauge when he installed the AEM. So still not 100% sure if it's the AEM or the fact that it's overheating and the AEM is shutting the car off. More updates to follow. Need to check now why it's overheating.
