Default Insurance question

How do you have your mods listed on your auto policy. In case someone steals your car or some SUV totals it.

Will your insurance replace just your old S2000 or everything you have bolted on and invested??
I'm adding SOS stage2 and want to be covered. I've worked to hard and to long to loose it bc if lack of adequate insurance.

I called my insurance, Statefarm could not give me a answer. They wanted a invoice of to show I spent, installed and tuned
to my car. They will send it to the underwriter and see if it's something they would insure? (WTF???)
I insure 3 cars, House, and umbrella policy 250/500 max coverages.
2005 Honda year is 800, 2009 Edge 400 year, 2005 Hundai 300 year, Condo 720 year, and Umbrella $180
Chit - I spend a lot a year for all my insurance WTF />

Thanks for your details

If you don't want others to know your details plz email me write2bill@cox.net
but this is info others should think about and cover your total investment

I have state farm as well and asked the same questions to my agent. The difficulty is that an insurance company will hate the fact that you are modifying a car for the simple purpose of going faster. Doesn't matter if you don't track it, or autox it, or street race it... you could be the safest driver in the world and if they catch wind that you put something on your car to make it go faster, the underwriter will freak and either raise your rates or claim you are uninsureable.

It boils down to pretty much having to tell your insurance company that the mods are for "show" purposes. But understanding that in the case of loss at an autox, track event, etc. you will have to do some pretty good dancing to have it covered. Here is the original thread in which i got my quote and info from my agent: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/969...#entry21902713

Others have mentioned that they found good coverage through other companies, and some guys in the R@C forum found coverage for race vehiclss.

My insurance thinks my car is stock. I got about 15k in it, so if I total it or it gets stolen, then I would be fuct.

Typically with things in life, I put all my eggs in one basket. Seems kind of silly to walk around with two baskets when they can all fit in one. That being said, my car will never be totaled nor stolen.

Finally, someone who understands the entire basket thing. I mean seriously who wants a bunch of baskets anyway?

Hagerty insurance will do stated value. Yiu want an insurance company that's willing to charge you based on the value you place on the car.

Grundy World Wide does that too. I have Grundy World Wide and with my 71 MGB and my S2000 under the policy my yearly pay is under $600 a year with no deductible.

I wanted Grundy but they are very strict on what the covered uses are for the vehicle when you only insure one car. Hagerty is more money but more lenient on where and why your driving the car. And they allow track events.

Also you need at least three cars for Grundy to cover you on that plan you have. f@#kers.

I still might go back to progressive if they will allow a stated value and freedom to drive the car anywhere. It's very annoying to worry if parking somewhere will void a claim :-(
