Arrow Intercooler Spray

Hey guys . I was thinking about buying an intercooler spray system for my car. ( My car is turbocharged ) Do you think i can benefit from this ?


My main goal is to use my car at max power when i am racing and also to pick up some extra power if possible. Because they claim to give 50 hp ?


I looked at some websites and i found DEI , NOS and NX kits avalaible. They say you can use N02 or Cry02 if you want.

What do you think about this ? Are there any risks of using this ?

The only way you will get 50hp from those kits is if the nitrous happens to get sucked up by the intake.

Aus Ss have headlight washers which are useless but can be nicely rerouted through irrigation tubing and misters to spray the intercooler.

Not exactly true, I have seen these kits made a 50hp difference before, but only in already high hp situations (like 600+).

There are 2 main choices both mentioned here (not including specifics); water or pressurized gas.

Water is by far the cheaper and easier solution. Basically you have a reservoir (some have opted to get rid of the windshield washer sprayers and use them to spray intercooler as well, but this is only an option in good weather areas such as socal) and a sprayer with an electric pump + tubing and misc mounting.

These can be a DIY project with parts from the local hardware store, and are much less expensive to refill often.

Compressed gases on the other hand (No2 Co2 etc), will cost more to fill up as well as install. However they are more effective (when compressed gases as a liquid expand the temp goes down a lot). Basically they will temporarily freeze the front of your intercooler there by making it's ability to cool and compress air much better.

Issues: water - only real issue is if you have a cold winter you need to add some winterizer so that it wont freeze.

co2 etc - again, not many real issues. Costs a bit more and you have to give up some trunk space (for the bottle), and the install is a bit more difficult.

Have you considered a small dry shot of N2O into the intake air stream? N2O cools the intake charge dramatically and can lower temps more than 100 degrees before adding oxygen for more power potential.

Except that n2o going INTO the engine is illegal for street use. Where n2o being sprayed onto the intercooler (other gases are suggested as they can be had for cheaper) is perfectly legal in all states that I've checked.

I forgot to add that I prefer the DIY water spray route, as it can be done for very cheap (well under $100) and it is always fun to have done it yourself.

Now that I think about it, subies have had water squirters for their intercoolers stock from factory for a while now. Maybe try finding wrecked sti's and see if you can strip the parts for cheap (including a momentary switch with a picture of water spraying )

When i have some free time , i ll try to do the water sprayer myself . Maybe it ll turn out something nice.
