I think a setup like this in place of the cat might work well, right after the header.

Just gotta be careful with a lowered car. Would warm up the cabin in the winter too

I would never choose a setup like that for an S2K, but I saw an STS kit in person on a C6 vette and I was impressed with the idea behind it. The guys that were installing it were telling me that turbo lag really wasn't too far off from a regular FMIC setup, despite the longer charge pipes/exhaust flow. It seems to work well for domestics.

[QUOTE=Slows2k,Jan 28 2007, 06:00 PM]They systems work well on large displacement engines that don't lack low end torque.

however the idea does have some substance to it. Instead of using highflow and hot exhaust it uses lower flow more dense and cooler exhaust gasses. So the same ammount of exhaust enters the turbo just slower and cooler and more dense. So in theory since you dont lose exhaust through the pipe it should work almost as well. Save the heat loss as the exhaust travels through the pipe. Otherwise its a decent idea...

Keep in mind that the kit on the Corvette's is a twin turbo design. One turbo smaller than the other, so "no lag" and "no spool time" is really to be expected.

The kit for the F-bodies (Camaro, Firebird) is only a single turbo since the exhaust is not a "true dual" on those cars, the headers run into a Y-Pipe and run one pipe back ot the muffler (or Turbo. ) and then back to dual (actually the STS kit runs a single exhaust out the back.)

I was very tempted to do this to my 1997 Trans Am, but I am almost certian I will sell the car before I get around to it.

The Corvette kit also does come with a FMIC, although the Fbody kit does not.

They have that turbo kit at the GTO at my school (UTI) it sounds freaking bad ass. At 5psi its putting down like 400 i think.

This is exactly right. When the LT1/LS1 F-Body kit fist came out, everyone cried about turbo lag, etc etc. The reality was that the setup worked and worked well. No, it isnt the untimate in turbo efficiency, but when it was 1/2 the price and 1/10 the install of a traditional turbo setup (F-Bodies have NO room under the hood), STS cars were surprising people.

Seriously. An STS equipped LS1 will walk a SC S2000 at stock boost levels.

to STS for thinking outside the box.

I have seen one in person on a c5 Z06 and it was nice...spools up quick and was kinda fast..... I have also seen in on an integra but i think it works better on v6 or v8 cars.... just my thoughts tho

These kits use a special oil pump to get oil to the center section. The pumps in these kits have a tendency to fail due to a design flaw and are not cheap. I heard this from someone who knows a fair bit about the STS kits due to their relationship with the engineering of the kits.
