Kraftwerks S/C performance on track
Today I went to my first organized track day with the KW supercharger where I could run with experienced drivers. It was a NASA event at the Kansas Motor Speedway (a NASCAR banked oval). I ran in the HPDE 3/4 group (most experienced group but not official competition). You run the oval and come off to do an infield section that is dominated by two long straights and a long sweeper then back on the oval. This track really favors high power high speed cars. My speed just before braking to go off the oval for the infield part of the course was over 145 mph.
The S2000 really shines in corners and in changing direction. But I wanted something that would keep up with the Corvettes and 911s in the straights. The S2000 with the Kraftwerks supercharger does it without sacrificing the the S2000 handling that I have grown to love.
The KW supercharger put me smack in the middle of the high power high speed group (Corvettes and 911s). This is exactly what I was hoping for.
Air temperature was about 80 degrees. My temperature gauge on track showed the same as when I drive to and from work. I logged data during my track sessions and the highest coolant temperature I saw was 208 degrees with most of the time on track being about 190 degrees. I have a Mocal 25 row oil cooler and stock radiator.
This KW S/C kit did exactly what I bought it to do.

Awesome. Glad to finally hear a good track report from this kit. That always bugged me, keeping with the 911's & Vette's in turns, then being left behind in the straights. Hopefully next year I'll finally find time to get mine back on track.
IATs ranged from mid 120s to mid 130s during the warmest session with the OAT about 85 degrees. The lower temps were recorded during the slower parts of the track. There is a strong correlation between vehicle speed and IAT with the IAT lagging the vehicle speed. The IAT sensor seems to be measuring the temperature of the engine bay. After my session, the IAT stabilized at 120 degrees during the cool down lap and stayed within a degree or two of 120 as I drove from the track to my spot on the paddock.

It's exciting to read about supercharged track days. Thanks for reporting back. Next year I plan to participate in more events hopefully. Do you monitor your IATs? Curious what ranges you saw.

It's an '06. The KW kit relocates the OEM sensor onto the charge pipe about 6" in front of the intake manifold.
Great to hear your tracking with this kit .. I know it is a great feeling to pull on a lot of cars.. I just did my last track day for the season .. It was about 80 degrees also and this time out I was goin pushing the car as much as I can .. And thank god no issues! I am definately getting my confidence back in this kit .. Also have not hit rev limiter once since it's all been back together .. Here's some vids ... http://youtu.be/dyMSTtYHTnE
