Default Lean Fuel/Air

Hi,

I've got a vortech sc on a 2004 and had the belts replaced recently. Now the check engine light is coming on with lean fuel/air mix. What are the causes and is there a way to inexpensively fix this issue temporarily? I need to pass inspection and don't want to spend 2k on having a stand alone installed as recommended by a local performance shop.

I hear that a new fuel regulator would work, but there's always positive/negatives to every tweak. My goal is to pass inspection with the least amount and consider more long term upgrades for a later time. I'm not redlining everyday, so not worried about blowing up.

Thanks!

Did this happen immediately after the belt was replaced?

Is it possible that the vacuum line to the Vortech fuel pressure regulator was disconnected and reinstalled incorrectly?

More details about your setup would also help. How much boost?, what injectors?, etc.

Hi stack - shop claims that everything was put back together as it should be... expected of course. They don't seem to admit to any wrong doing majority of the time from my experience. It's the complete standard kit from vortech, 7.5psi, stock injectors, stock everything else.

The check engine light came on right after the belt replacement. I can check to see if the vacuum line is loose though.

Thanks

You should also double check all vacuum lines that are modified or taped into for the Vortech kit. I am by no means an expert but to me this seems to be the first place to start. Maybe some of the resident experts will chime in.

What does your fuel system consist of? Are you running a replacement pump in the tank? An inline pump?

are you running the black box or AEM or Emanage or something else? I have never had any problems with this and i lean out to 11.5 while at WOT. But i am running AEM so it isnt a problem for me.

bought the car last year with the vortech already installed, besides that, everything else is stock and I have not done anything related to the fuel system.

Since the code came up right after the sc was removed and reinstalled to replace belts, it's most likely related to improper connections and I need help identifying these areas. I have not had a chance to check the vacuum line as Stack has suggested and may do so this afternoon.

I'm also wandering if any bad sensors is the culprit.
