Default Lighten flywheel?

Swapping out my tanny soon so I'm thinking of doing a 8 or 9lb flywheel. I also have a stage 4 CC clutch. Anyone here with this kind of setup? How will take off be?Will the quicker accel affect the turbo spooling up in any way?

You will just have to hold a slightly higher rpm when releasing the clutch (it will drop fast) and no, it shouldn't affect spool, if anything, it might help out a little because the engine will rev faster so it might seem to spool slightly quicker.

Numbers say a lighter flywheel will induce a faster spool. I myself have a fidanza flywheel which seemed to spool a tad bit faster. But it may all be in my head. Nothing super dramatic

I wanna say its 14lbs. If I had to do it again I would go with 11. It's the happy medium between the two weights. I feel like my 7.5 is too light. My rpms drop much faster then they used to.

Here are a few questions you should investigate if you would like reliability

1.) Will Aluminum with stand the heat?
2.) Why would Honda add weight to the factory flywheel on the AP2's?
3.) Can you resurface your prospective new flywheel?
4.) Why would you want a faster deceleration and is there really much difference in anything but free rev? (I can confidently say that 99% of FI S2000's will see NO difference in acceleration.)
5.) Will the reduced weight have an effect on engine balance/harmonics?
6.) Will a lightened flywheel and heavy duty clutch cause undo shock to the drive train?

I would not recommend any thing lighter than 11lb, additionally there are some other threads here that discuss the do's and don'ts in depth. As a rule of thumb fro me I would not use anything but a ChromeMoly or OEM for many reasons.

My aluminum fidanza withstands the heat. But to be honest. The revs drop fast. And it's really finicky. Revs need to be high to get In gear. I miss my oem. Go oem or 11.

And as far as undo shock and things. I broke my rear end easily mid gear at 14lbs in 3rd. Like 2 weeks after my tune. I'm fbm rear end right now

Act Prolite FW chromoly and its around 9 lbs. I believe there was a post on a z06 making more power on a lighter flywheel with dynos before and after with just replacing the flywheel.
