Why fit a light flywheel?

When I want to heel and toe for a _quick_ downshift into 2nd it seems to take forever for the revs to pickup with the flywheel I have (Exedy Hyper Carbon D comes with flywheel, unsure of weight).

All things being equal the engine should make more power because there is less mass to move.

 

I used a Fidanza flywheel. I got rid of it fairly quickly: it was too light. I spent ~1 month in Scotland with a rental car, a RHD manual transmission car. I didn't kill it once. I killed my S2000 multiple times on my first drive after I got home. (Also drove a Triumph TR6 the same day and didn't have any trouble with it.) I didn't feel any meaningful benefits from the lightweight flywheel, but there were a lot of drawbacks. Taking off from a stop and reversing were way too tricky. It also increased rattling/noise from the engine. I think I have an AP1 flywheel in there now and it's perfect.
