Unhappy Looks like the begining of the End :(

So............. I have about 1,400 miles on the car since April 23rd (tune date) and I have had some good times with the car for sure. So last night I had the pleasure of blowing away a brand new White M3, then followed that up with an even better romping of a last generation Supercharged M3

So today I am on the parkway, been driving for about an hr or so at highway speeds and did a few WOT pulls in 5th gear (had to show the EVO whos boss, lol) so I did about 3 WOT pulls in 5th and then continued to drive for about 20 mins. Stopped at the rest stop to go to bathroom, (leaving I did stall pullling out of parking spot in Reverse, it was kinda of hilly, I wonder if thats an indication of something, other then my shitty driving?)come out and try to shift into 3 or 4th (I cant remember) and the car would not go into any gear (didnt try lower gears) WTF. So I pull over freaking out and wait about 30 seconds and the car finally goes into gear, I go 1 into 2 into 3 into 4, then can't go into 5th and can get into 6th with a little bit of grinding.

So then for about 15 minutes I can not get the car into 5th, then out of nowhere it goes into 5th and all gears easily. So what did I break or whats going on?

Am I upset that my transmission is going, yes, did I expect it to happen, kinda, is it worth it when I can beat Supercharged M3's????? Of course

So whats going on here guys? could the long drive be a culprit too? I really need to get a daily

I dont know how you drive but if you were banging gears hard then its entirely possible that your clutch fork may have gotten cocked. Has happened to me in a friends car except his took a week to get back that gear almost had to buy him a tranny. I doubt you bent it but like I said they can get cocked due to hard shifting/misshifting at high rpms.

Did you check your clutch fluid levels?

^ yea they are filled

When I do run people I shift quick, but dont bang gears (dont think so anyway) Today I didnt shift hard at all, I wonder if the fluid just got so godamn hot, probably not but who knows.

Check the master cylinder on the inside of the car. Mine has started to leak a little on the inside of the car and needs to be replaced. Sometimes it feels fine, then it'll feel mushy and like it's not moving at all but it still lets me engage the gears.

I would rule out the long drives or "heat" as the culprit. I've driven 100 miles to and from a drag strip doing pulls there and back and tons of passes at the strip too and never noticed any issues related to long drives. I've also spend many nights driving all around town doing the same and noticed nothing.

You are making good power, and the S2k's transmission are awesome up to a certain point, then they are just garbage.

You'll probably hear people say that you just got it "heated up" but there is something wrong when you cant get it into certain gears. It's not just "hot". If it were hydraulic related, it would effect every gear, and it doesn't sound like it is, is it? I would also think if it's tranny fluid related, it would effect all gears too.

I know you don't want to hear it, but it sounds like you might have a transmission on the fritz.

I've had 5th and 6th gears lock out on me at times but they always seem to come back after a little bit of easy driving and persuading them to go in. I think mine was due to shifting too fast into 5th and 6th gears and putting a lot of power to them being that they arent dual synchro's. I have since stopped shifting fast into 5th and 6th gears and if I need to go into those gears in a roll race, I'll shift a little slower to save the synchro's. I havent had any problems since. I would venture to say that shifting into 5th and 6th gears have done the same to you and kind of locked up or worn the synchro's a little to where it locks those gears out like it did in my case. They do eventually come back though as mine has the 3 or 4 times it happened to me. I have some Amsoil synchro trans oil I'll be changing to that may help but havent gotten around to it yet. Amsoil claims that their synchro trans oil helps with synchro wear and gear mesh shock. Basically cushioning the synchro's and gears better than the oil we now use. You might want to look into this oil for your tranny also.
