I've had 5th and 6th gears lock out on me at times but they always seem to come back after a little bit of easy driving and persuading them to go in. I think mine was due to shifting too fast into 5th and 6th gears and putting a lot of power to them being that they arent dual synchro's. I have since stopped shifting fast into 5th and 6th gears and if I need to go into those gears in a roll race, I'll shift a little slower to save the synchro's. I havent had any problems since. I would venture to say that shifting into 5th and 6th gears have done the same to you and kind of locked up or worn the synchro's a little to where it locks those gears out like it did in my case. They do eventually come back though as mine has the 3 or 4 times it happened to me. I have some Amsoil synchro trans oil I'll be changing to that may help but havent gotten around to it yet. Amsoil claims that their synchro trans oil helps with synchro wear and gear mesh shock. Basically cushioning the synchro's and gears better than the oil we now use. You might want to look into this oil for your tranny also.
I believe he is referring to this:

When I do run people I shift quick, but dont bang gears (dont think so anyway) Today I didnt shift hard at all, I wonder if the fluid just got so godamn hot, probably not but who knows.

. The car is just so much fun to get on, but of course this is the price we pay. I can see why people buy fast cars from the factory, however I can't afford anything that is this fast from the factory
, and that just wouldnt be as fun
supposed to do a rally next weekend with a whole bunch of cars, I don't know how the car is going to last through 100 miles of highway ballin............

Except maybe one that would run $500k+. For what I have in my S, I could probably have a C6 Z06 but that still wouldnt even compare.
