I'm wondering if it would be possible to build a comptech/vortech style airbox and do piping into it instead of just having the air filter sucking in hot air all the time??
The box you are looking for came with your car. This was my first atemt, the second one is much much cleaner, since I knew where to cut the box this time. Will post pictures later.

For your goals the V1 is the perfect kit.I think I was the first one to get the full kit, correct me if I'm wrong. Go for the GT30/71R, that's what I have and people are still asking me why the turbo does not kick in. This might give you an idea how smooth and how early it spools up. You will maintain the driving characterictics of your car, it will all only happen much faster and pull MUCH stronger. Floor it anywhere above 4K and you better hold on son! Try it today in your car, drive at 4000rpm in 3rd gear and floor it. Does anything happen?Well, it will once you get the LoveFab kit

The GT1 is one step towards hardcore and will be a waste of money for you if you don't look for 500whp.

Just my 2 cents

The GT1 kits are actually on sale right now, so now is the time to purchase if you can! Through November, they are the same cost as the standard kits. However, YES you do need to relocate your oil filter. We provide an EXCELLENT kit for this, completely bolt-on, all SS lines, external oil cooler(no stock coolant-cooled cooler) for $500. We are planning on selling quite a few of these just for the purpose of cooling the S2000's oil, reguardless of turbo or not

As for the GT1 being a waste of $ for lower power, thats up to the buyer. The power will be around 10% higher PER PSI of boost over the standard kit, so right there, HP/dollar is already worth it. Throw on a bigger turbo(up to GT35R for no charge), and this figure climbs dramatically.
The battery will fit in its stock location, and the fuse box just has to be slid toward the fender, brackets bent, and youre done(AC lines too). In this pic, you can see how far things have to be bent, etc.
The heater hose just has to be bent sligthly as well, and ALL of these mods are easily reverseable. If heaven forbid, the car has to be returned to stock.

For a heatshield, we havent needed one yet. However, your stock heat shield fits great when flipped backwards, with a few holes drilled. "Scorpion" on here pioneered this solution with the standard kit and it was pure simplicity genious Makes it easier on us too, as others have noted that our past heatshields have been, oh, purely "functional".
We also build exhausts that bypass the cat/test pipe for a one-bolt install/removal because we use Vbands. Pictures of these will be up later this week, have to finish up one last kit from late September(he got some free oil lines for waiting so patiently, so long).

As you know I have the V1 kit and am very happy with it. I had a great time humiliating Ferraris with it last weekend. If your goals are as you state the V1 kit will be more than adequate.
that is not becuase the turbo.... it is the driver

I wish that were true. On these days we are only allowed to pass on the straights. And as anyone can go fast in a straight line you need the extra power to get past these cars.

I have the V1 kit. Overall I like it, but there are times I wish I had gone another route. Number one problem for me is heat. I have melted the windshield washer cap. The problem seems to be that because the heatshield only runs along the side, the hot air can flow over the top and heat that side of the bay. I have seen temps over 200* at my battery. The reason of coarse is the top mounted turbo...which ironicly is the rason I went the the lovefab kit My only other gripe is that the piping is not bling. But I knew that when I bought the kit it would be. Of course though I love the kit, and I wouldn't be human if I didn't have something to b!tch about.

Being RHD one of my major concerns was the heat. Not only is the windshield washer cap there but also the brake and clutch master cylinder reservoirs. Infact the clutch master cylinder reservoir is directly over the down pipe.

I had the downpipe, turbine housing and manifold ceramic coated and I have the simple aluminium flashing heat shield. I have driven the car hard including a track day and have not had a problem. The clutch reservoir doesn't even get hot. The metal bands around it are fine to touch after the hardest driving.
