Default lower vtec pt. on AP1 vortech V2 on AEM v2?

I was reading up here today but couldn't quickly find an answer to this.

Can I get the vtec engagement lowered to about 3700 instead of the normal 6000 on my AP1 vortech v2 on AEM v2 EMS(other mods listed in my signature)?? I want to say its only possible on the AP2???

Thoughts? Enlightenment? Criticism?

Yes, your tuner should be able to help with that. Especially if you have a Test pipe

Thanks man. I'm gearing up for a retune with my Reichard Racing 3.4" pulley(400HP here I come!). I'll get them to lower vtec then.

Thanks again.

I think my vtec is set to 3800 on my AP1. As long as you have a test pipe you can tune it down really low for a smooth transition.

Running the stock exhaust and cat with vtec set at 4k with my Vortech setup . Nice smooth power delivery . You don't feel the vtec switchover though .

How are you running your vtec at 4k with a stock cat? Also, how's the internals of you cat look?

The stock cat flows pretty good . Jeff Evans tuned my car 5 years ago . I have since tweaked the tune a little but Vtec i left where he set it too ie 4k . I cant tell you how the cat looks inside as i have never opened the exhaust since the tune . A nice reliable setup it is .I'm probably loosing 10-15 whp with the cat in place but no stink or soot on the bumper .

Yeah the cat is a real choke point on this car. The reason why you’re able to drop it lower then the typical 5.3k rpm is because you’re forcing it with the supercharger. You would gain a considerable amount of efficiency without it. Yeah about 15whp across the rpm band and an even lower vtec engagement. Mine was set to 3400rpm at 17psi on the supercharger. Keep in mind your cat will break/melt and clog your exhaust system eventually. When it does you will notice a pretty dramatic power loss. You don’t want to drive around with a failed cat for long, as it will increase your combustion temps dramatically and cause your engine to work hard, detonation usually ensues.
